Motherhood. It’s where love stretches wider than you ever imagined possible, where you feel everything, all at once. Where your heart lives outside your body, walking and growing and turning into its own little person, and somehow, still completely a part of you. Where you hold on so tight and let go just a little bit more each day.
It’s waking up tired but showing up anyway. It’s doing your best, even when you’re unsure what the ‘right’ thing even is. It’s second-guessing yourself after you’re in bed at night; lying awake wondering if you handled the hard moments with enough patience, if you made the right choice; remembering to order that thing tomorrow, or to make that doctors appointment. It’s wondering if they felt your love through the noise, the chaos and sometimes, the frustration.
It’s where the days can feel long and overwhelming… but also so beautiful.
It’s where one whispered 'I love you' and one hug they won’t let go of, is enough to bring you to tears.
It’s where a sticky smile can make the world feel soft again.
It’s where mess and magic live side by side.
It’s losing parts of yourself and wondering if you’ll ever feel like ‘you’ again.
And then, slowly and gently, you begin to find your way back, only to discover a version of yourself that’s braver, softer, fiercer than you ever knew existed. A version of you, that’s different now.
It’s being the one they reach for in the middle of the night. The one who knows the exact sound of their cry. The one who can fix the day with a hug, a snack, or a silly dance in the kitchen.
It’s being their comfort, their calm, their home. Their sun, moon, and stars.
You are their everything, even on the days when you feel like you’re falling short. You are always the centre of their world, their happy place, their safe space; just as you are.
There is so much no one tells you about motherhood. That it’s okay to feel stretched. That it’s okay to grieve your old life while loving this one more than anything. That it’s okay to need space and silence and softness. That even when you feel like you’re not enough, you are exactly what they need.
Motherhood isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being real. It’s about loving with your whole heart, even when it feels like it might break. It’s about showing up, again and again and again. And while sometimes that feeling is relentless. There are other moments where you long for it.
You are doing it right in this moment. Mothering. Loving. You’re in it.
And you’re doing so much better than you think.
You’ve got this. Always
You are a beautiful Mother x
